Your HOA Board of Directors is a group of neighbors who volunteer to serve our community. The Board and other volunteers work to keep you informed about events that are of interest to the majority of homeowners, promote safety in our community, provide activities to build community and awareness, and help maintain the integrity of our neighborhood.
The Board is looking for homeowners who care about these same things and are interested in helping maintain and strengthen our community. There are several ways to get involved.
HOA Board of Directors
There are several seats open for the 2022 Board of Directors. New Directors will be elected in October and will take their seats as of Jan. 1, 2022. Each elected Director serves a 3 year term and must be an active member of the HOA.
Time commitment varies depending on the responsibility you take on and which initiatives you lead. Plan on a minimum of 3-4 hours per month, and for some roles up to 4-8 hours per week or more. The Board has regular meetings once a month, either in person or on Zoom.
You can find more information about the Board and its responsibilities in the Bylaws at http://www.bvshoa.com/bylaws-of-hoa.html or by contacting mail.bvshoa@gmail.com.
To apply, please send an email to mail.bvshoa@gmail.com or use the contact form at BVSHOA.COM. Final applications, including a short bio, must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 22.
Architectural Control Committee (ACC)
The ACC reviews proposed projects for compliance with the deed restrictions for the resident's section, and works with homeowners to avoid or resolve violations.
The ACC members must feel strongly that deed restriction compliance is important to maintain BV/S as the attractive, desirable neighborhood it is. Members need to be able to "read" house plans. A background in architecture, home construction, and/or engineering is helpful, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. The time commitment for committee members is typically 2-4 hours a month.
Block Captains
The Block Captains serve as the link between the HOA Board and the community. They provide information to the homeowners in their area and relay questions and concerns to the Board. They also may organize social activities for their area to help build community spirit.
Special Events
Throughout the year the HOA sponsors a variety of special events. These are excellent opportunities to volunteer for short-term projects. Special events include helping with Christmas trees the first weekend in December (unloading, loading, and delivering), canvassing the neighborhood to find the best holiday lights displays, helping during the July 4th parade, and more.
Other committees
The HOA also has other committees to help with the work of the HOA. Time commitments and duties vary with the focus of the committee.
How to volunteer
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these roles or would like further information, please send an email to mail.bvshoa@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
